Jalandhar: The students of Rajiv Gandhi National Law University (RGNUL) in Patiala, Punjab have been protesting for 6 days. They are protesting against the sudden checking of the girls’ hostel by the Vice-Chancellor (VC) and his comments on their clothes.
The students have received support from the Punjab government, with CM Bhagwant Mann promising to support them and ensure their protection from harassment. CM Bhagwant Mann spoke with the protesting students over the phone from the hospital. His health is not well, and he is admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali.
Women Commission Write letter to president
The Chairperson of the Punjab Women Commission, Raj Lali Gill, has also written a letter to the President, calling for the immediate removal of the University Chancellor. Despite the university resuming classes, the students continue to boycott in protest. However, they faced problems due to rain.
Punjab Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill was also reached the Patiala-based university. She had reviewed the entire matter. She has talked to the students and the VC. She said in a conversation with the media that the matter will be resolved soon.
She said that she had heard the complaints of the students and also met the Vice Chancellor. Raj Gill said, “Met students of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala, listened to all their grievances and assured them of all the support. It’s their right to protest n our duty to resolve the issues. At the end of my meeting, they were all happy to have dialogue with the selected committee of the university and carry on with their studies there after. ”
