32-year-old woman murder: Police solves blind murder case, arrest victim’s paramour and recover weapon

Ludhiana murder accused Jasvir Singh arrested

Ludhiana, August 6: A day after the murder of a 32-year-old divorced woman, the city police arrested her paramour and recovered a knife, used by the accused in crime, from his possession. The accused has been identified as Jasvir Singh alias Jassi (37) of village Dhandra.

According to the police, the victim woman, Sandeep Kaur, was having an illicit relationship with the accused for the past 10 years and she got divorced from her husband around seven years ago. Since then, she has been residing with her 13 year old daughter at her maternal home in Mundian.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP-2) Dev Singh said that the victim wanted to move to Canada but her paramour Jasvir was against her decision and was trying to stop Sandeep. He suspected that Sandeep is now in contact with some other person and she is cheating on him. Therefore, he hatched the conspiracy and called up Sandeep to meet him at Gurudwara in Model Town.

“On August 4, when Sandeep went to Gurudwara in Model Town on her scooter. She parked the scooter outside the gurudwara, which was later recovered by the police. After paying obeisance at Gurudwara, Sandeep went along with the accused in his car. They both had a heated argument following which the accused took Sandeep to a vacant plot in village Gill near Ring Road and slit her throat,” he said.

ACP South Guriqbal Singh said that after identification of the woman on Monday, when police scanned the CCTV camera, they found the woman was last seen with the accused following which the police tracked the vehicle of the accused and nabbed him. ACP said that according to the accused the victim’s family was aware about their relationship but the victim’s family denied it and didn’t share any information regarding this relationship with the police.

Inspector Harshveer Singh said that the police have recovered the weapon used by the accused in the crime. Besides, the car and a scooter have been seized.

He said that the police are yet to recover the mobile phone of the victim.

On Monday, the police had registered a case under sections 103(1), 3(5) of BNS against unidentified accused at Sadar police station after recording the statement of victim’s father Shamsher Singh.

Shamsher Singh had stated in his statement that her daughter used to frequently go to Baba Deep Singh Gurudwara in Model Town to pay her obeisance and on Sunday also she went to the Gurudwara on her scooter but didn’t return.

He added that her daughter went to Gurudwara at around 10am and she informed her mother that she will return by 1.30pm but when her mother tried to contact her at around 2.30pm, her mobile was switched off and she didn’t return home. “Since then we were searching for her and then on Monday we received the news from the police,” he said.
