Gang of snatchers busted, three held, robbed scooter and mobile phones recovered

The Sarabha Nagar police have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of three of the accused and recovered a robbed scooter, six mobile phones and a sharp edged weapon from their possession.

The police have seized a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car which the accused used in the crime.

The accused have been identified as Varun of New Vijay Nagar, Harmeet Singh of New Deep Nagar of Haibowal Kalan (presently residing in Ladian Kalan) and Madan Kumar of Kehar Singh Nagar of Haibowal Kalan.

According to the police, Madan Kumar is a taxi driver and the Ertiga car belongs to him.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP- West) Gurdev Singh said that nine days ago, on August 28, the accused had targeted a realtor Nitin Syal of Barewal Road and robbed him of his scooter and mobile phone. After receiving the complaint the police initiated investigation and nabbed three accused.

Earlier Nitin had stated in his statement that the accused robbed him of two mobile phones and scooter when he took shelter under a bridge to protect himself from rain. He mentioned that the accused had turned up in an Ertiga car and threatened him by flashing a sharp edged weapon.

Inspector Pawan Kumar, SHO, Sarabha Nagar police station said that a case under sections 307, 304, 317 (2) of BNS was registered against the accused and the accused were arrested. He added that there are three cases already registered against accused Varun and Harmeet.

ACP said that the accused had executed multiple snatchings in different areas. They used to travel in the taxi car which belonged to Madan Kumar and then used to snatch away belongings of the residents by threatening them using a sharp edged weapon. He said that further investigation is on.
