Gujarat: A man has been arrested in Valsad, Gujarat, for the rape and murder of a woman, as confirmed by local police. The suspect, identified as Rahul Singh Jat, also known as Bholu, is from Haryana and is currently in custody. Valsad Superintendent of Police Karanraj Vaghela stated that the accused was tracked down using CCTV footage.

Rahul is believed to be a serial killer, having allegedly raped and murdered a 12th-grade student in the Motiwada area before taking her life. During interrogation, he admitted to committing five murders over the past 25 days across various locations in India. The police revealed that he exploited his disability to travel for free on trains, where he often carried out his crimes.

Rahul has a history of more than 13 criminal cases involving robbery, dacoity, rape, and murder registered against him in different states. The Valsad police meticulously reviewed over 2,000 CCTV clips to trace his movements from Valsad to Andhra Pradesh before apprehending him at the Vapi railway station, where he confessed to killing at least five women.

Currently, the Valsad police have informed authorities in other states about the suspect and are conducting further investigations into the rape and murder case. After being presented in court, he was remanded to police custody for ten days. The police have also revisited the crime scene and established a Special Investigation Team to look into Rahul’s other offenses in various states, including a case registered in Bengaluru, West Bengal, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, where a woman’s body was discovered on a train.
