One died, four injured in violent clash between two groups

Ludhiana:

In a violent clash between two groups which took place in Sant Fateh Singh Nagar of Ludhiana a 25-year-old youngster died while four others were injured.

A CCTV video of the incident has also surfaced on social media in which the members of both groups are seen assaulting each other with sharp edged weapons and even pelting bricks at each other.

The victim has been identified as Diljit Singh, alias Kaka, of Preet Nagar, Shimlapuri.

The incident has triggered a panic in the area after a group of youngsters carrying sharp edged weapons, sticks turned up on motorcycles in the area. The group of youngsters had a heated argument with victim Diljit and his friend Jagroop and within no time the argument turned into a violent clash.

Soon the friends of Diljit and Jagroop also joined them and in this violent clash Diljit, Jagroop, and others sustained severe injuries. Diljit’s brother Rahul rushed to the scene after being informed by a local resident about the incident. He took Diljit to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Later, when police reached the spot on receiving the alert, the accused had managed to escape by then.

Sub-Inspector Gurshinder Kaur from Daba police station said that the police have initiated investigation into the matter and revealed that the scuffle stemmed from an ongoing rivalry. She added that both Diljit, Jagroop, and members of the rival group had previous FIRs filed against them.

Now a fresh FIR has been registered under charges of murder, attempted murder, and rioting, and the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.
