Murder In Ludhiana : Throat slit body of a 32-year-old woman found near gill road

Ludhiana : A 32-year-old woman was found murdered with her throat slit near the railway line at Gill Road in Ludhiana. The city police on Monday identified the victim as Sandeep Kaur of Mundian.

According to the police, the body was recovered on Sunday evening but then the woman was unidentified. Today, morning the police identified the victim and initiated further investigation into the matter.

The matter came to light after locals witnessed the body and raised the alarm following which the police from Sadar police station reached the spot, took the body in their custody and initiated investigation.

Prima facie suggest that the assailant had attacked the woman with a sharp edged weapon as the accused had slit the woman’s throat before dumping the body here near the railway lines.

Inspector Harshveer Singh said that the police are investigating how the body of a Mundian resident reached near the railway line at Gill Road and what are the reasons behind the murder.

Inspector added that after recovering the body the police have scanned CCTV cameras and also recorded the statements of the victim’s family members. He added that the police will solve this incident very soon and it is expected that the police will reveal about the accused on Tuesday.

Inspector added that the woman was divorced and has a daughter who is around 14 years old.

According to the victim’s father Shamsher Singh her daughter used to frequently go to Baba Deep Singh Gurudwara in Model Town to pay her obeisance and on Sunday also she went to the Gurudwara on her scooter but didn’t return.

He added that her daughter went to Gurudwara at around 10am and she informed her mother that she will return by 1.30pm but when her mother tried to contact her at around 2.30pm, her mobile was switched off and she didn’t return home. “Since then we were searching for her and then today we received the news from the police,” he said.
