New Delhi: More than 7.28 crore micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have registered on the Udyam Registration Portal since its launch in July 2020, Parliament was informed on Monday. Registered units are eligible to access various government benefits, including formal credit and participation in government procurement.
Digital Integration and Policy Support
Minister of State for MSMEs Shobha Karandlaje said over 50 API integrations have been established with different organisations to improve data sharing and service delivery. The data captured through the portal is being used to design better policies and enhance the effectiveness of MSME support programmes. The government is also focusing on digitisation, single-window clearances and simplified procedures to improve Ease of Doing Business.
Boost for Women-Led Enterprises
As of November 30, around 2.86 crore women-led MSMEs are registered on the portal. The ministry has launched several initiatives such as MSME SAMBANDH, MSE-GIFT, MSE-SPICE, Sustainable ZED Certification, PMEGP, MSME SAMADHAAN and MSE-CDP to address credit gaps, skill shortages and sustainability, helping MSMEs — especially women-led units — access finance, markets and technology.
