Delhi AQI in Poor Category; Pollution Plan Submitted by NCR Cities

The national capital, Delhi, recorded its worst air quality of the season on Tuesday. The city’s AQI reached 423. The Education Department has ordered classes for children up to grade 5 to be conducted in hybrid mode.

Schools Shift to Hybrid Learning Amid Toxic Air

Effective immediately, classes in Delhi will be conducted in both physical and online modes until further notice. Parents can choose to send their children to school or attend online classes from home. Meanwhile, the central government has implemented the third phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR.

GRAP Phase 3 Implemented Across Delhi-NCR

Under this, construction and demolition work has been halted in Delhi-NCR, except for essential projects such as roads, railways, and airports. Agencies have been directed to reduce pollution by cleaning roads with machines and sprinkling water.

Cold Wave Grips Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh

Meanwhile, severe cold has set in across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. On Monday, 13 cities in both states recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius. Fatehpur in Rajasthan recorded the lowest temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, while Nagaur recorded 6.9 degrees Celsius. Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh is experiencing temperatures as cold as Shimla, with a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius on Monday. Shimla also experienced the same temperature yesterday.
