New Delhi: The police in Delhi on Wednesday have filed a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR)  for alleged distribution of shoes by BJP candidate Parvesh Verma in the New Delhi constituency.

This comes after the returning officer of the New Delhi assembly constituency wrote to the SHO Mandir Marg Police Station, saying that he had received a complaint that Verma was “distributing shoes” in the area.

The Returning officer requested Delhi Police to lodge an FIR for alleged violation of poll code. The complaint accuses Verma of violating the Model Code of Conduct by distributing shoes to electors at the Valmiki Temple near Mandir Marg.

The complaint reads “Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, prospective BJP candidate is distributing shoes to electors of New Delhi Assembly Constituency in the religious campus of Valmiki Temple near Mandir Marg, Police Station.”

The AAP has also alleged irregularities in the electoral roll of the constituency.

“We pointed out that Parvesh Verma in the New Delhi seat is openly distributing money, and health camps are being held with glasses being distributed. He announced on January 15 that job fairs will be held. All of this falls under corrupt practices according to the Election Commission’s rules. Parvesh Verma should be barred from contesting the election,” Kejriwal told media persons.

Verma is in the electoral fray against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sandeep Dikshit of the Congress party in the New Delhi Assembly constituency.
