On Monday evening, a suicide attack was carried out in the parking lot outside the Red Fort Metro Station in Old Delhi. The bomb blast was so devastating that, as of the last reports, a total of 12 people were killed and more than two dozen were injured. The explosion was so powerful that body parts were scattered far and wide. Nearby vehicles were shattered, and parked in the parking lot were also burned. The sound of the blasts was heard up to two and a half kilometers away. Various CCTV footage showed people running for their lives after the blast. The investigation and inquiry have so far revealed that the mastermind of this terrorist plot was Dr. Umar Mohammad Nabi.
He was a resident of Pulwama who blew himself up. To fully confirm this, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have detained his parents and brother so that DNA testing can reveal the final outcome. Terrorists are carrying out their operations in the country in a systematic manner. The truth behind the Delhi bomb blast appears to be that the terrorists had set up a gunpowder factory in Faridabad. Now, some venal white-collar individuals have also joined the ranks of the terrorists. Two of Dr. Umar’s associates who have been detained are also doctors: Dr. Sajjad and Dr. Shahid Shaheen. It is said that Dr. Shaheen is associated with Jaish’s female terrorist squad. A raid was conducted in Faridabad, and 2900 kg of explosives were recovered. Perhaps this angered Dr. Umar, who carried out this terrorist attack in Delhi. One thing that surprised experts was that the bomb did not explode; even after the explosion, many fragments were not blown away.
The reason for this is ammonium nitrate, which was recovered in large quantities from the terrorists’ Faridabad warehouse. It has been revealed that an AK-47 was found in a doctor’s locker during the investigation. Many details are emerging, which will be officially disclosed as the investigation concludes. Following the incident, Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Given the severity of this terrorist act, the investigation has been handed over to the NIA. An eyewitness reported that when the blast occurred, one person’s head was severed and thrown away, and two people were left with half their bodies missing. This gives an idea of the severity of the explosion.
The government must be more vigilant in considering how organized terrorists managed to set up a gunpowder factory and build warehouses to store it in an Indian city. This continued under the nose of the administration, but only became known when 12 people lost their lives in an explosion outside a key site like the Red Fort in Delhi. This incident reveals that terrorist gangs are recruiting not only hired criminals but also educated criminals. Traditional police investigations were insufficient to counter such a vicious cycle; therefore, it is appropriate to entrust the investigation to the NIA. Not just in Faridabad or Delhi, this incident must be investigated wherever it reaches. Those responsible must not be spared. In fact, when citizens within a country begin to commit treason, maintaining security becomes difficult. We should not delve into the religion of the four terrorists; instead, we should remember that terrorists have no religion except violence. Killing innocent people is not human. The penal code should be applied to all such individuals.
