Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the Congress leader’s only agenda is to create chaos in the country and that he has failed to present any constructive alternative for the youth.
Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks in Parliament during the debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, Fadnavis criticised the Congress leader’s allegations against the Centre and said the government’s focus remains on strengthening the examination system and protecting students’ interests.
Fadnavis Criticises Rahul Gandhi Over Parliament Remarks
Speaking to reporters, the Maharashtra CM said Rahul Gandhi keeps making allegations but does not offer solutions for the country’s youth.
Fadnavis was responding to Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the Union Home Ministry had ordered the use of pellet guns against students during protests. Rejecting the allegations, he said the Centre’s new legislation would help make examination systems more transparent and secure.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government is working towards improving opportunities and safety for young people.
Cases Against Students to Be Withdrawn
Fadnavis also announced that the Maharashtra government has directed the police and Home Department to withdraw cases registered against students who participated in various agitations.
He said that although several cases related to unlawful assembly were registered during protests, the police maintained restraint while handling the situations.
Government Open to Dialogue on Maratha Issues
Addressing the issue of Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil’s fresh protest call, Fadnavis said the government remains committed to addressing concerns of the Maratha community.
He stated that eligible applicants are being issued caste certificates and that the backlog of pending applications has reduced significantly.
CM Reviews Rain Situation in Nagpur
On the heavy rainfall and waterlogging situation in Nagpur and other parts of Maharashtra, Fadnavis said the administration is prepared to handle the impact of intense rainfall.
He said several areas witnessed extremely heavy showers in a short duration, putting pressure on drainage systems. According to him, waterlogging in some locations is linked to ongoing drainage work and infrastructure challenges.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to remain alert as the state continues to monitor the situation following the IMD’s Orange Alert.
