Hisar, Balsamand: Farmers’ crops suffered heavy damage following a sudden fire that broke out late last night in the Dhiranwas area of Hisar district, exacerbated by strong winds. Within moments, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing crop residue across hundreds of acres.
Following the incident, farmers attempted to bring the fire under control themselves; however, due to the strong winds, the flames continued to spread relentlessly. The ‘phane’ (crop residue) essential for fodder was destroyed in the blaze, meaning farmers will now face difficulties in preparing feed for their livestock.
Villagers Allege: Fire Brigade Failed to Arrive on Time
A crisis regarding livestock fodder has also emerged. The fire brigade arrived at the scene after receiving the alert, but by then, significant damage had already occurred. Villagers stated that had the fire brigade arrived on time, the extent of the damage could have been minimized.
Farmer leaders including Surendra Arya, Sandeep, Ramesh, Mukesh and Ramchandra stated that a precise assessment of the damage caused by the fire has not yet been completed.
Meanwhile, the administration also swung into action; around 10:30 PM, Naib Tehsildar Ajay Kumar, accompanied by ‘Patwaris’ (revenue officials), visited the site to take stock of the situation. Currently, the administration is in the process of assessing the damage, while the farmers are demanding compensation.
