Dhruv Rathee Detained in Gurugram Ahead of CJP Protest

Gurugram: YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was reportedly detained by police at his residence in Gurugram ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest scheduled at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Meanwhile, several political leaders in Haryana, including Congress MLA Shishpal Keharwala, have reportedly been placed under house arrest as authorities tighten security ahead of the demonstration.

A post shared by the ‘Cockroach of India’ social media handle claimed that around 50 police personnel in plain clothes arrived at Rathee’s residence at around 8 am and detained him. The post alleged that Delhi Police picked him up from his home.

Police officials had not provided detailed information about the reported detention at the time of the report. The police PRO team said information regarding the matter would be shared shortly.

Dhruv Rathee’s Reported Association with CJP

Rathee, who is originally from Rohtak in Haryana, currently resides in Berlin, Germany. According to the supplied report, he had arrived in India two days before the planned protest.

CJP leaders had also shared a video on social media concerning Rathee’s association with the party. However, further official details regarding his reported detention were awaited.

Congress MLA, Other Leaders Face Restrictions in Haryana

Security measures have also been tightened across Haryana, which borders Delhi. Several prominent leaders in four districts have reportedly been placed under house arrest ahead of the protest.

Among them is Congress MLA Shishpal Keharwala, who represents the Kalanwali constituency in Sirsa district. A farmer leader in Rohtak has also reportedly been placed under close police surveillance.

In Sonipat, police detained Congress members who were travelling to Delhi to attend the demonstration. According to the report, the members were taken off their bus and held at a police station.

The measures come amid heightened security arrangements ahead of the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar, where the organisers planned to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
