Amritsar: Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s “Aura 2026” world tour has become embroiled in controversy. His live concerts in Canada have been repeatedly protested by Khalistan supporters, to which Diljit responded from the stage. Meanwhile, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, head of “Sikhs for Justice” and a declared terrorist, released a video threatening him with protests in the US after Canada.
“Pride will become the enemy”—Pannu’s statement
Pannu objected to Diljit saying “My India is great” and touching Amitabh Bachchan’s feet. He called Diljit arrogant, saying that his pride would pose the biggest threat to him. He also alleged that the singer’s “conscience is dead” and that he would face the consequences in upcoming shows.
Controversy over flags at concert
The controversy began at the Vancouver show on April 23rd, when some people waved Khalistan flags and chanted slogans during the concert. Security personnel ejected them, prompting Diljit to take a firm stance from the stage. Similar protests were witnessed at the Calgary show on April 30th, where the singer challenged the protesters from the stage.
Diljit’s response: “I will continue to speak for Punjab”
Diljit clearly stated that he will continue to raise Punjab’s issues on every platform. He said that if anyone wants to protest because of his stance, he has no objection. He also made it clear that anyone disrupting the atmosphere at the concert will not be spared and will be immediately ejected.
