New Delhi: A multi-agency search operation is underway after a man was reported missing following an incident on the Delhi–Noida Direct (DND) Flyway in the early hours of Monday.
According to officials, the Delhi Fire Services received an alert during the night after a caller reported that a man had gone missing near the Yamuna River. When emergency teams reached the spot, they found a scooter, clothing and a mobile phone believed to belong to the missing individual.
The man has been identified as Ankit Sharma, a resident of Delhi’s Preet Vihar. Preliminary information suggests that he was engaged in the business of buying and selling vehicles.
NDRF, Fire Services and Police Launch Search
Soon after the alert, personnel from the Delhi Fire Services, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police launched an extensive search operation in the Yamuna River.
NDRF Inspector Praful Kumar said the force received information through the control room in the early hours of Monday and immediately mobilised rescue personnel from its Dwarka battalion.
“Our teams reached the spot promptly and have been carrying out an intensive search operation. Divers are searching the river in multiple directions,” Kumar said.
Family Members Present at the Spot
Officials said the missing man’s family members have reached the location and are present as the search operation continues.
No trace of the missing man had been found at the time of filing this report. Authorities said the search will continue, and further details are awaited.
