New Delhi: The nation on Monday paid heartfelt tributes to former President and renowned scientist Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary, remembering his immense contribution to India’s defence, space and missile programmes.
Several leaders recalled Dr Kalam’s vision, simplicity and dedication towards nation-building, describing him as an inspiration for millions of Indians, especially the youth.
Amit Shah recalls Kalam’s contribution to India’s strategic growth
Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Dr Kalam through a post on X, describing him as a visionary and an architect of India’s space and missile programmes.
Shah said Dr Kalam’s achievements in science strengthened India’s strategic capabilities, while his wisdom and vision inspired generations to pursue excellence.
He remembered Kalam as the “People’s President” and said his legacy would continue to remain a source of inspiration.
Om Birla remembers ‘Missile Man of India’
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid homage to Dr Kalam, highlighting his role in advancing India’s indigenous missile and space programmes.
Birla said Dr Kalam worked towards building a developed, self-reliant and strong India, while making knowledge, discipline, simplicity and national service the foundation of his life.
Recalling Kalam’s famous words — “Dreams are not those that come while sleeping; dreams are those that do not let you sleep” — Birla said his thoughts continue to motivate young Indians to work towards their goals.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to the former President, praising his contribution to India’s defence and space science sectors.
Fondly known as the “Missile Man of India”, Dr Kalam played a key role in strengthening India’s missile capabilities and became one of the country’s most respected scientists and statesmen.
Dr Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, while delivering a lecture to students at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong.
Awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, Dr Kalam remains widely remembered for his scientific achievements, humility and close connection with students. His vision of a developed and self-reliant India continues to inspire millions across the country.
