Driver falls, constable takes control of bus; major accident averted

Barmer: A major road accident was averted in Barmer district, Rajasthan, when the driver of a moving bus fell from his seat, and a constable sitting nearby showed presence of mind and took control of the bus. The bus was carrying around 35-40 passengers.

Sudden braking caused loss of balance

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. near Balau Phatak in the Sadar police station area. A pickup truck traveling ahead of the bus suddenly applied its brakes, causing the bus to lose control and the driver to fall from the seat.

Constable takes charge

Constable Jetharam, who was on duty at Dhanau police station, immediately took control. He tried to control the bus, but the brakes failed, forcing him to pull it off the road.

Bus stopped 150 meters away

The out-of-control bus struck bushes and trees about 150 meters off the road and stopped. Fortunately, the bus did not overturn and fell into a ditch.

All passengers safe, no one injured

The passengers on the bus, including women, were safely evacuated with the help of local residents. Police arrived at the scene upon receiving information and investigated the incident.

Constable (police driver) Jetharam showed promptness and took over the steering.
