Dubai: Seven Indian nationals were killed and nine others injured in a road accident in Dubai after a minibus collided with a stationary truck on a highway, according to the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Dubai that claimed the lives of several Indian workers,” the Consulate General said in a post on X. Officials added that they are in close coordination with local authorities and providing all possible assistance to the victims and their families.

Consulate officials also visited the hospital where the injured Indians are undergoing treatment. Authorities expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
Driver Failed to Maintain Safe Distance
According to Dubai Police, the accident occurred when a minibus carrying workers rammed into a truck that had stopped in the middle of the road due to a technical malfunction.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said preliminary findings suggest the bus driver failed to maintain a safe distance and did not notice the stationary vehicle in time, resulting in the collision.
7 Dead, 9 Injured in Crash
The impact led to the death of seven people, while nine others were injured, including five in serious condition and four with moderate injuries. All injured persons were taken to hospital for treatment.
Traffic authorities confirmed that emergency teams were deployed immediately, traffic was regulated at the site, and the damaged vehicles were removed to restore normal flow.
Investigation Underway
Dubai Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident and also issued a warning urging drivers to ensure vehicle safety and avoid stopping on highways unless absolutely necessary.
