New Delhi: The results of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2026 have been declared, with ABVP’s Yash Dabas winning the president’s post. ABVP secured three of the four central panel positions, while independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the vice-president’s post.
Yash Dabas defeated NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena in the presidential contest. Dabas secured 24,576 votes, winning by a margin of 2,053 votes, according to the final results.
ABVP Wins President, Secretary And Joint Secretary Posts
Apart from the president’s post, ABVP candidates also won the secretary and joint secretary positions.

- Joint Secretary: Lakshya Raj Singh (ABVP)
The Congress-backed NSUI did not win any of the four central panel posts, while the AISA-SFI alliance also failed to secure a central panel position.
Independent Deepanshu Shokeen Wins Vice-President Post
Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen emerged victorious in the vice-presidential contest. He defeated ABVP’s Ishu Maurya and NSUI’s Vir Chatrath for the post.
Shokeen’s victory was notable because the vice-president contest had seen him lead during several rounds of counting, even as the presidential race between Dabas and Meena remained closely contested.
DUSU Polling Recorded 40.46% Turnout
Polling for the DUSU elections was held on Friday, September 18, across Delhi University. Final reports put voter turnout at 40.46 per cent, with more than 1.51 lakh students eligible to vote. Counting began on Saturday at the University Sports Stadium’s Multipurpose Hall in North Campus amid tight security.
The contest involved candidates from ABVP, NSUI, the AISA-SFI alliance and independent groups for the four central panel posts.
