Jalandhar: Amid the arrest of 15 people in the Jang-e-Azadi Memorial scam by the Jalandhar Vigilance Bureau, the Election Commission Of India has issued the notice to the Chief Secretary of Punjab. The Election Commission has called for the report of the entire matter.
This report was summoned by the Special Observer of the Election Commission from the Chief Secretary of Punjab. Which will have to be sent to the Election Commission of India by this evening.
In Jang-e-Azadi Memorial Kartarpur scam Jalandhar Vigilance Bureau had Registered against about 26 people’s including senior journalist Barjinder Singh Hamdard, IAS officer Vijay Bublani under sections 420, 406, 409, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of the IPC and section 13 (1) A along with 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Out of 26 accused vigilance bureau were made 15 arrests including officers and employees. Name of the arrested accused are Deepak Builders owner Deepak Kumar Singhal, resident of Rajguru Nagar, Ludhiana, Arvinder Singh, retired Chief Engineer, resident of Chandigarh, Tej Ram, retired XEN, resident of Jalandhar, Rajiv Kumar Arora, SDO, retired resident of Panchkula, Rohit Kumar, PWD JE, Jalandhar. Resident Raghvinder Singh XEN, Santosh Raj XEN resident Amritsar, Harpal Singh SDO resident Preet Nagar, SDO Jatinder Arjun resident Jalandhar Cantt, JE Harpreet Singh resident Kapurthala, Mandeep Singh, resident Urban Estate Phase-2, NP Singh XEN resident Kapurthala, JE Gauravdeep Resident Master Tara Singh Nagar, JE Rohit Kandola resident Kapurthala
The Election Commission has asked for a detailed report of the entire matter. At the same time, IAS officer and former Chief Executive Officer Vinay Bublani has also been named by Vigilance in the case. Whose arrest is still pending.
Vigilance Bureau officials said that in Jang-e-Azadi Memorial misappropriation of funds has been found. The total expense of the memorial was 315 Crore but there has many discrepancies in the accounts.
