Una (Himachal Pradesh): There is growing dissent in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after six rebel Congress MLAs and three independent MLAs joined the party. Rakesh Kalia, a former MLA from Gagret and Chintpurni, resigned from his post after Chaitanya Sharma joined the BJP.

Kalia has sent his resignation to Rajeev Bindal, the BJP state president. There is speculation in political circles that Kalia may return to the Congress party soon. He has said that he will discuss his next move with supporters from Chintpurni and Gagret constituencies.

Resignation Of Former MLA Rakesh Kalia

In his resignation letter, Kalia has made serious allegations against Chaitanya Sharma, stating that he had left the Congress party because of corrupt individuals. Now, these people have come to the BJP to tarnish its reputation. Similar to Kalia’s situation, there are signs of opposition within the BJP in Kutlehar, Dehra, Lahaul Spiti, Sujanpur, Dharamshala, Nalagarh and Badsar. Veerender Kanwar from Kutlehar and Ravi Thakur from Lahaul Spiti have both indicated that they will contest the upcoming elections, even though the party has given them tickets on the condition that they will not contest.
