Mumbai: Actor R Madhavan has given a shout-out to shuttler Lakshya Sen whose sterling performance secured him a spot in the semi-final of the men’s singles event at the ongoing Paris Olympics.
Lakshya became the first Indian badminton player to reach the semi-final stage in the men’s singles event following his 19-21, 21-15, 21-12 win over Taiwan’s Chou Tien Chen on Friday.
Lakshya’s win has brought a wave of happiness to India. Social media is flooded with heartfelt posts for the young sportsperson. Actor R Madhavan, too, chimed in to laud Lakshya.
In an Instagram post, Madhavan wrote, “Yeahhhhhhhhhh Sen … What are champions game..
@senlakshya .. You are a winner.”
The 22-year-old will now play for a medal and will be keen to add to India’s medal tally in the ongoing Olympics. This is for the first time that a shuttler has entered the semifinals in a men’s single event. Paris Olympics started from July 26 and will conclude on August 11. India has so far secured three medals, all from shooting.
