Ahead of Chandigarh concert Child Rights commission issues notice to Diljit Dosanjh; bars use of Children on stage

Chandigarh: Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh is in the news these days for his Dil-Luminati tour. Meanwhile, the Child Rights Protection Commission has issued an advisory before Diljit’s concert in Chandigarh on December 14. The commission has instructed the concert organizers and Diljit not to sing songs like Patiala Peg, 5 Tara Theke and Case even by twisting them. It has also instructed not to call small children on stage during the concert. This matter was raised by Associate Professor Pandit Dharenvar.

There are mainly three points in the commission’s advisory:

1. According to the World Health Organization report, adults should not be exposed to sound pressure levelsof  more than 140 dB. For children, this level has been reduced to 120 dB. In such a situation, it is advisable not to call children on stage during live shows.

2. The commission has instructed them to avoid singing songs like Patiala Peg, 5 Taara, Case etc. even by distorting them. Because words promoting alcohol, drugs, and violence are used in them. These songs affect children of sensitive age.

3. The organizers have been told not to give alcohol to youth below 25 years of age, which is punishable under the JJ Act and other provisions of the law.
