Mumbai: Amid swirling speculations about stepping away from filmmaking and leaving Mumbai, acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap has finally broken his silence. Taking to social media, the filmmaker clarified that while he has changed cities, he hasn’t left the world of cinema.
He added that he has five directorial films lined up for release, with three expected in this year and two early next year. The filmmaker al;so claimed he is turning down three offers a day due to an overflowing schedule, joking about the length of hid IMDB page.
The clarification comes after his recent interviews where he criticized the current state of Bollywood, calling it “Toxic” and obsessed with the Rs. 500-800 crore club, at the cost of creativity. He has also expressed a desire to move to South India, seeking new learning opportunities.
Kashyap’s last directorial , Kennedy earned acclaim at international film festivals. He’s also exploring acting, with his upcoming Hindi-Telugu bilingual project “Dacoit” currently in production.
Despite the criticism and industry fatigue Kashyap made it clear : “He’s here to stay just not in Mumbai”
