‘Making contacts is biggest challenge’: Panchayat fame Sanvikaa opens up about her journey

Mumbai: In season 3 of the web series Panchayat, Sanvikaa has gained attention from the audience through her innocence and simplicity. Sanvikaa’s journey from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh to Mumbai was not easy. In her initial days, she also worked in the costume department.

Talking about her journey, She said that it’s not easy for an outsider to step into the film industry. At least more than one year is required to make contacts with industry personnel. After the release of ‘Panchayat’, Sanvikaa was even termed as ‘Crush’ on social media.

She claimed that even today, people with dusky skin don’t get work easily in the industry. In an interview, she was asked about her journey in Mumbai. She said, “The biggest struggle in Mumbai was to find a home, and to live in an area like Bandra was impossible. I did not have enough money to afford it. However, my destiny luckily supported me.”

“I found a flat in DN Nagar in Mumbai. I used to live with six people in a 1 BHK flat. I used to find the location of auditions through various mobile apps. Social media has played a vital role in my life. Through social media, I could find my destination”, she further added.

About her days in the costume department, she said, “Yes, I have worked in the costume department in the junior most position. The work was good, but a person should be capable enough to listen to seniors. At that time, I realized the difference between artists and other people. All the people used to serve the artists all the time. They were provided with each and every necessity; however, we were not even asked. At that time, I used to think, why can’t I act like them? After that, I started giving auditions.”

When asked about the challenges for an outsider, she said, “Making contacts in the film industry is the biggest challenge for an outsider. One gets confused about where to go. Those who have contacts are relieved from this struggle.”
