New Delhi: On the occasion of Republic Day, the announcement of Padma awards was made last night. Actors Mithun Chakraborty and Chiranjeevi have got Padma Vibhushan while from Punjabi film industry’s Nirmal Rishi and Pran Sabharwal got Padma Shri.
On the occasion of the 75th Republic Day, disco dancer Mithun Chakraborty of Bollywood films and famous hero Chiranjeevi of South Indian films have been honored with the Padma Vibhishan Award for their excellent work in the field of art. While veteran Punjabi film industry artiste Nirma Rishi and theater artist Pran Sabharwal will be given Padma Shri.
The award is presented by President Draupadi Murmu. Apart from this, four personalities from Haryana namely, Mahabir Singh Guddu, who has done remarkable work in the field of art, Ramchandra Sihag and Hariom, Gurinder Singh, who has done remarkable work in the field of social service, have also been honored with Padma Shri.
110 personalities from across the country have been honored for their excellent work in various fields. Of these, 17 have also been given Padma Bhushan awards. The list comprises 5 Padma Vibhushan. 30 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 8 persons from the category of Foreigners / NRI / PIO / OCI and 9 Posthumous awardees.
