Mumbai Police have arrested a 24-year-old vegetable seller named Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin from Jamshedpur in connection with a threat message sent to actor Salman Khan. The message, which was received via the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline, demanded Rs 5 crore from Khan, prompting authorities to open a case and investigate.
Police traced the origin of the message to Jharkhand and dispatched teams to apprehend the suspect, with another team also going to Guwahati. In the meantime, the Mumbai traffic police received an “apology” from the same mobile number that sent the threat.
This incident comes after Khan had previously received death threats linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which even attempted to shoot outside his Bandra residence in April. Earlier this year, Navi Mumbai police uncovered a conspiracy by the Bishnoi gang to kill Khan, leading to increased security measures for the actor.
