Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has once again sparked a political debate by questioning the reliability of EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines). He said that EVMs can be hacked and that this is clear. Referring to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, CM Sukhu said that at that time the ruling Congress in the state received 15 to 20 percent of the votes, which was much less than expected. He had also expressed doubts about EVMs at that time.
The Chief Minister commented on the West Bengal elections, saying that the Indian people benefited from 15 years of anti-incumbency against the TMC. The BJP has played the politics of polarization. He said that for the first time, Congress fielded candidates on 284 seats in West Bengal to strengthen its presence. He said that in the future, Congress will carry forward its ideology more strongly and that there will be a direct contest with the BJP in the times to come.
Sukhvinder Sukhu said – In the present era, pressure on democratic institutions has increased. Institutions like ED, CBI, and the Election Commission are being used as political weapons, whereas this did not happen earlier.

Former minister and MLA Bikram Thakur and BJP chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal said that if EVMs are such insecure and ‘hackable’ machines, then did the Congress form the government in Himachal through these very EVMs? Were the EVMs fine at that time and have become faulty today?
They sarcastically said that Sukhu has today become BJP’s informal ‘star campaigner.’ Wherever he goes, BJP receives overwhelming support and Congress gets wiped out. Just as Congress under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership is continuously facing defeats, Sukhu is also engaged in further weakening Congress.
