Ex-NCB Officer Sameer Wankhede Sues Red Chillies, Netflix for Tarnishing Image

Mumbai: Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NDC) officer Sameer Wankhede has moved the Delhi High Court against the web series “The Bads of Bollywood” and Shah Rukh Khan, alleging that his image was tarnished in the web series.

Sameer Wankhede has sought ₹2 crore in damages from Shah Rukh Khan and his company, Red Chillies Entertainment. Sameer says he intends to donate this amount to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the treatment of cancer patients.

In this matter, Sameer Wankhede has issued a statement stating that he has filed a defamation case in the Delhi High Court. This case has been filed against Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment, the OTT platform Netflix, and several others. In this case, he has appealed to the court to impose a ban on these individuals, compensate them for the damages, and clarify the truth. He claims that a false and defamatory video was shown in the web series “The Bads of Bollywood,” which has damaged his image.

The statement further stated that the series portrays anti-drug agencies in a negative light, thereby undermining public trust in these law enforcement agencies. The statement also stated that in the first episode of “The Bads of Bollywood,” a character inspired by Sameer Wankhede appears outside a Bollywood party and searches for people using drugs.

He also went to jail in a drug case.

In 2021, on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd, a party was being held on a Goa-bound cruise ship, organised by a Delhi-based events company.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) received information that drugs might be used at the party. The NCB’s Mumbai unit, led by Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, boarded the ship posing as passengers. A large quantity of drugs, including cocaine and hashish, was seized during the raid, which lasted from 10 pm to 2 am.

Aryan Khan, who was about to board a ship to attend the party, was arrested along with his friend Arbaaz Merchant and lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.

Due to delays in bail papers, Aryan was released from Arthur Road Jail on October 30. Then, on May 27, 2022, Aryan Khan and five others were given a clean chit due to lack of sufficient evidence.
