Ludhiana: A 60-year-old former Sarpanch was allegedly shot dead in Ludhiana, Punjab. The deceased’s family alleges that his brother orchestrated the incident due to a land dispute.

The deceased has been identified as Navtej Singh alias Neetu. According to the family, he was returning home in his Toyota Innova on Saturday when two men on a motorcycle chased his vehicle in the Ladhowal area and allegedly fired 13 rounds at him.

Incident captured on dashcam

The entire shooting incident is reported to have been recorded on the dashcam installed in his Innova. Navtej Singh was rushed to the hospital after the attack, where doctors declared him dead.

Family files complaint against 8 people

The deceased’s son, Alamjit Singh, a lawyer by profession, described the murder as a premeditated act in his police complaint. He named a total of eight people in the complaint, including his uncle, Pal Singh, his family members, and the current village head.

Alamjit Singh alleged that his family is involved in a land dispute with the accused, and cases related to this are pending in court. He also claimed that he and his father had been threatened several times.

Police Launch Investigation

Police have registered a case based on the complaint and have begun investigating the incident. They are examining the circumstances of the incident, as well as dashcam footage and other evidence.
