Expansion of Aam Aadmi Clinics: Punjab Government to Provide Healthcare Services Inside Jails

Punjab Desk: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab’s innovative Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) initiative has brought a historic transformation in the state’s health sector and now this revolutionary program is being extended inside jails. Having successfully treated over 4.20 crore patients and providing free medical services to 73,000 people daily, the Mann Government has proven its commitment to public welfare and accessible healthcare.

The government is now moving forward to establish AACs in all 10 Central Jails of the state. This step goes beyond system improvement — it reflects the philosophy of a “Sevak Government”, where every citizen, whether inside or outside prison, deserves free and quality healthcare. The initiative is crucial in controlling overcrowding-related health risks and the spread of serious diseases such as Hepatitis-C, HIV, and Tuberculosis among inmates. Although 24×7 medical officers are already deployed in prisons, the new clinics will significantly strengthen the existing health infrastructure and improve access to medical care. The Mann Government has clearly stated that “Good health is not a slogan it is our top priority.”
