Ludhiana: A shocking abduction case involving a tea and cigarette vendor has surfaced in Ludhiana, where unidentified men posing as members of the CIA staff allegedly kidnapped the victim by forcing him into the trunk of a car.
Following a detailed investigation lasting nearly two-and-a-half months, the Punjab Police has registered an FIR against 7–8 unidentified accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), launching a formal probe into the incident.
Vendor Allegedly Forced Into Car Trunk
According to the complaint filed by Mohammad Shabar Khan, a resident of Sector Town near Basant City on Pakhowal Road, his maternal uncle Tajuddin, son of Nizamuddin, runs a paan, tea and cigarette stall in the Quality Chowk area of Ranchi Colony.
The complainant told police that on February 21, 2026, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., several unidentified youths arrived at the stall and allegedly assaulted Tajuddin before forcibly pushing him into the trunk of a car bearing registration number PB-10-GS-8234.
The accused reportedly claimed they were taking him to the “CIA” before driving him to an undisclosed location.
Panic in Area, Family Approaches Police
The incident triggered panic in the locality, while family members launched a search for the missing vendor. After failing to trace him, they approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.
The Punjab Police registered a case at Sarabha Nagar Police Station under Sections 140(3), 127(2), 115(2), 351(3), and 190 of the BNS against unidentified persons.
CCTV Footage Under Scanner
Police officials said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined and efforts are underway to identify the accused through the vehicle registration number mentioned in the complaint.
As of now, no arrests have been made and investigators are probing whether the accused were impersonating law enforcement personnel to carry out the alleged kidnapping.
While the FIR and complaint details have been confirmed, police have not yet publicly disclosed the motive behind the abduction.
