Yamuna Nagar: A married man from Haryana, identified as Sachin Kumar from Chamori in Yamunanagar, has been accused of raping a young woman from Kangra district under the false promise of marriage. He allegedly posed as an excise inspector to gain her trust.
Met on Instagram, Built False Relationship
According to the complaint, Sachin contacted the woman on Instagram in February and introduced himself as an excise inspector. Over months, he developed a relationship with her and promised marriage, leading her to enter into physical relations with him during her stay in Dharamshala. The woman later learned that he was already married and had a child.
Financial Exploitation
The complainant reported that Sachin took cash and gifts worth nearly ₹1 lakh, including ₹86,000 in cash and items worth ₹25,000. These payments were made from her SBI and Bank of India accounts.
Case Registered
After she filed a complaint at the Dharamshala police station, a case under BNS 69 was registered. ASP Bir Bahadur Singh confirmed that the investigation has started and evidence is being verified.
