Early Thursday morning, two motorcycle-borne miscreants opened fire outside a gym in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area. According to police sources, the gym is owned by two businessmen from Rajouri Garden, and Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa serves as its brand ambassador.
While no one was injured in the incident, it has caused a stir in the locality. The notorious Lawrence gang has claimed responsibility for the attack via a social media post. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation covering all angles, including extortion, gang rivalry, and personal enmity.
The attackers fired at least seven rounds at the gym before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the attack occurred in the early hours when the gym was closed and unoccupied, resulting in no casualties.
Discovery by the Caretaker
The incident came to light when the gym’s caretaker arrived around 5:15 AM. Upon seeing broken glass and bullet marks, he immediately informed the police. Senior Delhi Police officials and a local police team arrived at the scene promptly.
A forensic team (FSL) was also summoned to the site to assist with the investigation. Forensic experts collected spent shell casings and other scientific evidence. The police are currently scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity and along the escape routes to identify the attackers.
