Himachal Pradesh Cloud Burst And Flood Havoc: 7 people died and 46 missing

Shimla:  7 people have died in the floods caused by cloudburst in 5 places of Himachal on Wednesday night. 46 people are still missing. NDRF, SDRF, Police and Home Guard jawans are conducting search operations to find them. 36 people were missing from Shimla. None of them has been found yet.

5 people of 3 families are still missing after 3 houses collapsed in Rajban village of Mandi’s Chauharghati. 5 bodies have been recovered here, while one injured was rescued safely from the debris.

On the other hand, 7 people including 5 members of the same family went missing in Bagipul of Kullu.  2 bodies including a woman have been found, while 5 are still missing. DC Kullu S Torul Ravish has also reached Samej. He said that 15 families have been affected by the flood in Samej Khad.

She Said that, The houses of 4 have been completely damaged. 3 people of the district are missing. Immediate compensation of 1.25 lakh has been given to the affected Family. She said, schools in Samej Khad have collapsed. Now School will be run in Mahila Mandal and Yuvak Mandal Bhawan.

Mandi ADM Madan Kumar says “On July 31 at 11 pm, information was received about cloudburst in Padhar subdivision, the administration started relief and rescue work. SDRF, NDRF, Home Guard and Police teams were moved to the spot. Due to cloudburst and heavy rains, the nearby roads got blocked and bridges broke.

Deputy Commissioner has reached the spot and is taking stock of the relief and rescue work. 2 bodies have been recovered… 8 People are missing, 3 houses have been destroyed, some people are feared to be buried. Relief and rescue work is going on… The water level of Beas river has also increased, people living in low-lying areas have been taken to relief camps, arrangements for their food and water have been made.”

Rescue and relief operations on full swing: CM Sukhu

On the cloudburst incident, Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu says, ” Rescue and relief operations are in full swing.I am going to visit the spot from where the most number of people are missing. He said, if the sunlight comes out, the rescue operation can be carried out with much more speed. We can recover the bodies only when sunlight comes out. Currently, around 49 people are missing, our current motive is to rescue the 4 trapped people and recover the bodies trapped under the debris. CM said, I request the tourists not to go near waterfalls and rivers.”

MP Kangna Ranaut Talk With DCs

BJP MP from Mandi and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, said that she has spoken to the DCs and MLAs of flood-affected districts. They have been forbidden from coming due to the red-orange alert of rain. Kangana said that she wanted to meet the people and share their pain. We were told that the situation is not good and there may be alert of more cloudburst. Therefore, she has also requested tourists not to come to Himachal.
