A special court in Mohali, Punjab, has permitted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute senior Punjab Congress leader and former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in a money laundering case.

Dharamsot served as Forest Minister and was in charge of the Social Welfare Department in the Captain Amarinder Singh cabinet in 2017. An investigation revealed a multi-crore rupee scam within the Forest Department.

The Vigilance Department arrested him in 2022, while the ED arrested him on January 16, 2024. The ED has seized assets worth ₹4.58 crore belonging to Dharamsot and his son. Two additional accused individuals have been added to the case, and the hearing is scheduled for December 2.
