The Punjab Police has achieved a breakthrough against international organized crime. The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab, in collaboration with OFTEC Punjab and central agencies, has successfully deported fugitive gangster Jobanjit Singh—alias Joban Billa—from Jakarta, Indonesia, and brought him back to Punjab.
According to the police, the accused, Joban Billa, was wanted in connection with several serious offenses, including murder, attempted murder, and violations of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. He had been evading arrest for a long time by hiding in various countries. Four cases of murder are registered against him in Punjab.
Coordination with International Agencies
This operation was conducted under the Punjab Police’s ‘Operation Nomad Hunt.’ The special campaign, which spanned approximately six months, involved continuous surveillance, strategic intelligence gathering, and coordination with both national and international agencies, ultimately leading to the accused’s arrest and extradition to India.
Such Operations to Continue
The accused will now undergo interrogation to thoroughly investigate his criminal network, overseas contacts, and potential links with active gangs in Punjab. The Punjab Police stated that such operations would continue in order to completely dismantle organized crime networks and bring criminals hiding anywhere in the world to justice.
Fugitive Criminals Will Not Be Spared
The police emphasized that criminals who flee abroad to evade the law will not be spared. With the cooperation of national and international agencies, such fugitive accused will be brought back to India and made to face the law.
