New Delhi : The colors of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 are now starting to appear on e-commerce portals as well. Goods or products related to different political parties are being sold in huge numbers on these portals. These online platforms are offering all kinds of election-related products, from Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘kamal’ to old sea clocks to Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) election symbol broom and Congress’ famous dupatta.
You just type in the name of any political party on an e-commerce website and a variety of paraphernalia from flags to pendants (worn around the neck) and pens will appear on the page. A representative of an e-commerce platform said the trend initially emerged during the 2019 elections, when e-commerce platforms became favorite destinations for promotional goods and ancillary machinery. He said that when everything is sold online then why not this.
The parties are also selling goods on their respective websites
Some political parties themselves have shown activity in selling such goods on their respective websites.
For example, t-shirts, mugs, lota, notebooks, badges, wristbands (to be worn on the wrist) emblazoned with slogans such as the Namo merchandise website, Modi’s family, then once Modi, Modi government, Modi’s guarantee and Modi Hai to Mumkin Hai. Wala), claims an extensive range of products such as key ring, sitkar, magnet, cap and pen.
Leaning towards online retail platforms
On an e-commerce platform, one of the suppliers of these goods revealed that an increase in online sales of such items has been seen during the Lok Sabha elections. “Earlier our supply was to the shops, but seeing the trend towards online retail platforms, it felt right to adopt it,” the supplier said. The Lok Sabha elections are to be held in 7 phases from April 19. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
