Gohana: A broad-daylight firing incident in Gohana, Haryana’s Sonipat district, caused panic after around 8–9 people allegedly opened fire at a bulletproof Scorpio carrying four people who were returning after appearing in court.
The incident took place near the Kharkhoda turn on Sonipat Road. According to reports, the attackers arrived in two vehicles, blocked the Scorpio’s path and allegedly fired around 8–9 rounds at the vehicle.
Fortunately, the Scorpio was bulletproof, and all four occupants escaped unharmed.
Attackers Blocked Scorpio, Opened Fire
According to reports, Ravindra, a resident of Barota village, was travelling in the Scorpio with his brother and another relative after appearing in court in connection with the case.
While they were returning from the hearing, around 8–9 people allegedly travelling in two vehicles surrounded them near Barota village. The attackers reportedly used their vehicle to block the Scorpio before opening fire.
The sudden firing in broad daylight created panic in the area. The attackers fled the spot in their vehicles after the incident.
Bulletproof Vehicle Saves Four Lives
Around 8–9 rounds were allegedly fired at the Scorpio. However, because the vehicle was bulletproof, the occupants remained safe despite being targeted.
Spent shell casings were found at the scene following the firing. Police and family members of the victims also reached the spot after receiving information about the incident.
Firing Linked To Ongoing Land Dispute
Reports suggest that a dispute over around 4 to 5 acres of land has been ongoing between factions led by Ravindra and Vinod for nearly one-and-a-half years.
The firing is being linked to the same dispute. It has been alleged that people associated with Vinod’s faction were behind the attack. However, the exact motive and the individual roles of those involved are yet to be established and will become clear during the police investigation.
Police Begin Investigation, Search For Attackers
After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and inspected the area. Investigators are collecting evidence, including the spent shell casings found at the scene.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the attackers and trace the vehicles used in the shooting. Statements of the affected parties are being recorded, while efforts are underway to locate and identify the accused.
