Ahmedabad: An alleged operative of the Goldy Brar gang, who was wanted in more than 11 serious criminal cases including attempted murder, firing and extortion, has been arrested in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The arrest was made in a joint operation by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, Ahmedabad Rural Special Operations Group (SOG) and Delhi Police, officials said on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Aarif alias ‘Pistol’, was arrested from the Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad during a late-night operation. He was allegedly involved in an organised extortion racket linked to the Goldy Brar gang and had been wanted by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
Goldy Brar Gang Operative Wanted in 11+ Cases
According to the Crime Branch, Aarif was wanted in connection with more than 11 serious cases, including attempted murder, firing and extortion. The arrest followed intelligence-based operations carried out at multiple locations.
Investigators said Aarif allegedly acted as an important operational link for the syndicate. He allegedly helped make threatening calls through Dubai on behalf of Goldy Brar and assisted in running a large-scale extortion racket.
The accused had allegedly been changing locations frequently and concealing his identity to evade agencies tracking him across multiple states.
Joint Investigation Underway After Ahmedabad Arrest
Following his arrest, a joint interrogation is underway to identify his alleged local associates and trace the gang’s financial network, officials said.
Investigators are also examining the alleged flow of funds connected with the extortion network. The arrest comes as agencies continue efforts to track individuals linked to organised criminal networks operating across multiple states and countries.
Who Is Goldy Brar?
Goldy Brar, also known as Satinderjit Singh, is originally from Muktsar Sahib in Punjab and has been linked by Indian authorities to organised criminal activities and extortion. He has also been accused in the 2022 murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
In 2024, the Indian government designated Goldy Brar as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The Punjab government had earlier issued newspaper advertisements announcing cash rewards ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh for credible information about 28 fugitive criminals, including Goldy Brar.
In July, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced a reward of up to USD 50,000 for information leading to the arrest of Satinderjeet Singh. The FBI said he was wanted for his alleged involvement with the Lawrence Bishnoi Organised Crime Group.
According to the FBI, Singh has ties to Sacramento and Fresno in California, as well as Canada, India and Mexico.
