Earlier Food Poisoning Complaints in Delhi
In a separate case in January 2026, Delhi Police registered an FIR against a five-star hotel on Barakhamba Road in New Delhi after a 33-year-old woman alleged that she fell ill after eating food served there.
According to the complaint, the woman contacted the police through a PCR call and reported symptoms she attributed to food poisoning. An FIR was registered under Section 286 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which concerns negligent conduct involving poisonous substances.
The FIR stated that a police team, including a woman sub-inspector, went to the woman’s room on the hotel’s 12th floor. When nobody answered repeated knocks, the door was opened with the hotel’s master key in the presence of staff.
In another incident in September 2025, around 200 people reportedly fell ill in northwest Delhi after allegedly consuming buckwheat flour during Navratri fasting. The incident was suspected to be a case of food poisoning.
