Ahmedabad: With just days to go for the grand celebration of National Unity Day on October 31, marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, Ekta Nagar in Gujarat is witnessing massive preparations to host thousands of visitors from across the country.
Massive Infrastructure Set Up for Visitors
To accommodate guests, the Gujarat government has erected 11 large domes near the Koyari-Garudeshwar Mamlatdar’s office, offering lodging for over 9,000 visitors, including a dedicated dormitory for 1,400 police personnel.
Each dome is equipped with comfortable bedding, charging points, secure luggage stands, clean bathrooms, separate sections for men and women, ample ventilation, and fire safety infrastructure.
Supporting facilities include a registration counter, medical first-aid centre, and modern restroom blocks with uninterrupted water and power supply. Additionally, parking has been organised for 174 buses, ensuring smooth transportation and movement.
The entire area is decorated with vibrant fabric drapes, bright lighting, and festive décor, creating an atmosphere of celebration and unity.
Parade to Showcase India’s Diversity and Strength
The National Unity Day parade at Ekta Nagar will be modelled on the Republic Day parade in New Delhi, celebrating the theme ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ and reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision —
“Rajya anek, rashtra ek; samaj anek, Bharat ek; bhasha anek, bhaav ek; rang anek, tiranga ek.”
(Many states, one nation; many communities, one India; many languages, one emotion; many colours, one Tricolour.)
The parade will feature 16 contingents from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and various state police units, including BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. Medal-winning personnel such as BSF’s Operation Sindoor heroes and CRPF’s gallantry awardees will also take part.
Adding grandeur, ten thematic tableaux from states and union territories — including Jammu & Kashmir, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Puducherry, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand — will highlight India’s cultural heritage and developmental achievements.
Cultural Highlights and Prime Minister’s Participation
The parade will include performances by nine military and police bands, four award-winning school bands, and special displays like the NSG’s Hell March, Assam Police’s Daredevil Motorcycle Show, and a BSF dog show featuring Indian breeds.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay floral tributes at the Statue of Unity before attending the parade, where he will be accorded a Guard of Honour by CAPF and Gujarat Police contingents.
Following the parade, a 15-day cultural festival, Bharat Parv 2025, will take place from November 1 to 15, showcasing India’s unity in diversity through art, music, dance, and exhibitions — making the celebration a true tribute to the Iron Man of India.
