Kutch: Atleast seven workers were killed and more than 20 others injured after a truck and a Bolero Camper pickup vehicle collided head-on at the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat’s Kutch district early Friday morning.
The accident took place between 3 am and 4 am inside the renewable energy park, police said. All the victims were travelling in the Bolero Camper when it collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
The impact left the pickup vehicle badly damaged, trapping seven workers inside. Rescue efforts were carried out with the help of a crane, but all seven trapped workers died. More than 20 injured workers were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Seven Workers Trapped in Wrecked Vehicle
Sub-inspector MB Chavda of Khavda police station said the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the collision occurred. The force of the impact severely damaged the Bolero Camper, leaving several workers trapped inside.
Rescue teams used a crane to remove the trapped workers from the wreckage. However, the seven workers could not be saved. The other injured passengers were shifted to the hospital for medical attention.
Police Begin Investigation Into Accident
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials are also examining whether negligence played a role in the accident at the renewable energy park.
