Hisar: During a protest in Haryana’s Hansi over the Jeevan Kundu murder case, CIA In-charge Kaptan Singh was allegedly seen brandishing an AK-47 at protesters.
A video of the incident has surfaced, showing Kaptan Singh standing alongside other police personnel while not in uniform. He suddenly stepped forward and took an AK-47 from another CIA staff member before allegedly pointing it towards the protesters.
The other staff member, however, did not let go of the weapon. Other police personnel at the spot were also seen trying to restrain Kaptan Singh.
CIA In-Charge Honoured Hours Later
The incident has drawn questions as Kaptan Singh was honoured by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for meritorious service during Independence Day celebrations in Hansi, around four hours after the reported incident.
A photograph of the felicitation has also surfaced.
The Jeevan Kundu Nyay Samiti has raised objections over the incident. In a written complaint submitted to the National Human Rights Commission and the State Human Rights Commission, the committee alleged that the CIA in-charge threatened to shoot protesters with the AK-47.
Questions Raised Over Police Action
Questions have also been raised over Hansi SP Vinod Kumar’s alleged involvement in stone-pelting during the protest.
When asked about the AK-47 incident, SP Vinod Kumar said, “My gunman and the escort gunman also had AK-47s, but they were not used.”
The matter has raised questions over the conduct of police personnel during the protest and the subsequent felicitation of the CIA in-charge.
