Hansi Fire: Balaji Hardware and Sanitary Store Gutted, Short Circuit Suspected

Hansi: A major fire broke out late Saturday night at Balaji Hardware and Sanitary Store on the Jind-Bhiwani road in Khanda Kheri village of Haryana’s Hansi district. Electrical goods, hardware items and sanitary ware worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the blaze.

A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, according to preliminary information.

Smoke Spotted Late at Night

A village employee returning from duty on Saturday night noticed smoke coming from the shop. He immediately informed shop owner Satish Verma over the phone. The incident was also reported to the emergency service through Dial-112.

After receiving the information, fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and launched an operation to control the blaze. However, the fire had spread across the entire shop, making the initial efforts to extinguish it unsuccessful.

After a sustained effort, two fire tenders managed to bring the fire under control.

Electrical and Sanitary Goods Burnt

Satish Verma, a resident of Khanda Kheri, said he had been running the hardware and sanitary store for a long time and supporting his family through the business.

He said he received a call about the fire at around 11 PM on Saturday. By the time he reached the shop, the fire had already engulfed the entire premises.

According to Verma, all the electrical, hardware and sanitary stock inside the shop was destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished. He estimated the value of the burnt goods at lakhs of rupees.

Major Financial Loss for Family

The fire has caused a major financial setback for the shop owner, as the business was the family’s primary source of income.

Preliminary investigations point towards a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire. Further details regarding the exact cause and the extent of the financial loss are awaited.
