Hansi: Hansi Police have recovered 66 lost mobile phones worth around ₹8 lakh over the past two months and returned them to their rightful owners, officials said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Kumar handed over the recovered mobile phones to their owners at his office on Monday.
The owners expressed happiness and gratitude after getting their lost devices back.
Cyber Cell Traces Phones Using IMEI Numbers
The SP said the Cyber Cell, led by Sub-Inspector Vipin, traced the missing mobile phones using their unique IMEI numbers.
The recovery highlights the importance of reporting a lost or stolen mobile phone to the police as soon as possible. An IMEI number can help authorities identify and trace a device.
Police Advise Public to Report Lost Phones Immediately
SP Vinod Kumar urged people to immediately inform the police if their mobile phone is lost or stolen.
He also advised users to block their devices through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal to prevent their phones from being misused.
People can submit the IMEI number of a lost or stolen phone on the CEIR portal to request blocking of the device. Those who are unfamiliar with the online process can seek assistance from their nearest police station.
