A four-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a women’s toilet at Haridwar railway station, police said on Sunday. The screams of the girl caused a stir on the spot, after which the people present around broke the door of the toilet and took the girl out safely.
Meanwhile, the accused took advantage of the crowd and escaped by dodging, but the GRP police cordoned off and arrested the accused within 14 hours. The arrested accused, a resident of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh, has been sent to jail after a case has been registered against him under several serious sections including POCSO.
Pilgrim family from Shivpuri
According to the information, the family from Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh was on a pilgrimage for the last few days. The family had reached Haridwar and Rishikesh after visiting Ujjain Mahakal, Khatu Shyam and Vaishno Devi.
Late on Monday evening, the family was waiting for a train at the ticket office of Haridwar railway station to go back to Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, his four-and-a-half-year-old innocent daughter expressed her desire to go to the toilet.
Innocent man caught in toilet
The father sent the girl to the women’s toilet near the ticket house and himself stood outside at some distance and waited. Shortly after, the sound of the girl screaming loudly came from inside. The father and the people present there immediately ran inside, then saw that the door of the toilet was locked from inside.
When people broke the door together, everyone was shocked to see the scene inside. Inside, a young man had grabbed the innocent girl with the wrong intention, and her clothes were in disarray.
Accused caught
People immediately rescued the girl from the clutches of the accused. Meanwhile, taking advantage of the crowd, the accused tried to escape from there. The incident was immediately reported to the GRP. Under the instructions of GRP Captain Aruna Bharti, the police team immediately started a search operation and, after considerable effort with the help of people, managed to apprehend the accused.
Police Uncover Case
Under the leadership of GRP Captain Aruna Bharti, the police took swift action and solved the entire case within just 14 hours. The arrested accused has been identified as Yash Yadav (19) from Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh).
The police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 127(1), 62, 64 of BNS and Sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act.
Haridwar for Intoxication and Indulgence
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused, Yash Yadav, is illiterate and has a nomadic tendency. He often runs away from home. According to the police, the accused came to Haridwar to take advantage of the ongoing pilgrimage season and the crowd, with the intention of indulging in intoxication and pleasure. The police are now looking into his previous criminal history.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, a forensic team was called to the scene, which has collected important scientific evidence. The accused has undergone a medical examination, and his clothes have been sealed as evidence. Captain Aruna Bharti has commended Sub-Inspector Preeti Karnwal and her entire team for this swift and successful disclosure.
