Congress Chooses Karmaveer Baudh

Earlier, Congress considered four names:

Karmaveer Singh Baudh

Uday Bhan

Former MLA Jaiveer Balmiki

Ashok Tanwar

Karmaveer Baudh was selected for three reasons:

He belongs to the Scheduled Caste

He is a former Secretary of the Haryana Legislative Assembly

He was a leader in the movement following IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar’s suicide case, which impacted Haryana politics last year

Rahul Gandhi’s Recommendation and Party Efforts

Sources say Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, personally suggested Karmaveer’s name.
Haryana Congress President Rao Narendra Singh worked late with the legal team to finalize and file Karmaveer Bauddh’s nomination in time for Thursday’s deadline.
