Rewari: In a major operation, the police and intelligence department have arrested 17 Bangladeshi immigrants in Haryana’s Rewari district. The arrested people include 7 men, 5 women and 5 children. They have been living illegally in India for 15 years. Police investigation regarding Rohingya is going on.
On the instructions of Rewari SP Mayank Gupta, Rampura police station and intelligence department team raided a brick kiln located in village Saharanwas on Wednesday. During the investigation, none of these 17 people could produce proof of their identity or Indian citizenship.
Interrogation revealed that these people had entered India illegally from Bangladesh 15 years ago. After initially spending a few years in Rajasthan, they came to Rewari, where they were working as laborers at a brick kiln. Police have started the process of registering a case of illegal entry against all of them and they will be produced in court on Thursday.
According to the intelligence department, this is the first time in the district that such a large number of Bangladeshi intruders have been caught. The department is still conducting special drives to identify illegal immigrants in the area.
