The Haryana government has taken a tough stand on the unrecognized and unauthorized schools operating in the state and has issued instructions to take strict action against them. There are 89 such schools in Sonipat, which neither have recognition nor any kind of permission. The Directorate of Education has directed the District Education Officers (DEO), Block Education Officers (BEO) and Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRC) to take immediate action against these schools.
According to the information, in a survey conducted by the Education Department in February 2024, it was found that many schools are operating without recognition. Some of these schools had recognition only for primary classes, but they were also teaching in higher classes. This is not only a violation of the Haryana School Education Rules, 2003, but also playing with the future of the students.
In this matter, the Education Department had already issued notices to the schools several times, but no concrete results came out. After this, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed, demanding the state government and the education department to close down unrecognized schools and take strict action against them.
